BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - Police say a Vermont man who threatened to shoot people after being kicked out of a downtown Burlington bar had a loaded gun in his waistband.

The Burlington Free Press reports (https://bfpne.ws/1MnlWJG ) that 30-year-old Victor Anghelache of Burlington was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and is being held at the Chittenden Regional County Correctional Facility on $5,000 bail.

Burlington police say Anghelache was expelled from the Zen Lounge early Friday morning.

Burlington Mayor Miro Weinberger said the incident underscores the need for a charter change that would prohibit bar patrons from carrying weapons. Burlington voters overwhelmingly supported the proposed change at Town Meeting Day last year.

A phone number listed to Anghelache is not in service. It was not immediately known if he has a lawyer.
