HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - A second man has been sent to prison in connection with a fatal beating inside a room at a Manchester motel last year.

Benjamin Thibodeau, who previously pleaded guilty to a charge of hindering prosecution, was sentenced Tuesday to 5 ½ years behind bars.

The 42-year-old Thibodeau was originally charged with felony murder in the March 2014 beating death of Bienvenido Tosado in a room at the Manchester Inn. But although it was determined Thibodeau was in the room at the time of the beating, he did not participate. Prosecutors say he tried to conceal evidence of the crime.

The Courant (https://cour.at/1IE8VLI ) reports that Thibodeau apologized to Tosado’s family in court.

Another man, Lorenzo Hernandez, has been sentenced to 18 years in prison after pleading guilty to manslaughter in Tosado’s death.
