REHOBOTH, Del. (AP) - The Delaware State Police says it’s investigating after a woman attempted to rob a hotel in Rehoboth.

State Police say they were called around 4:15 a.m. Wednesday after a woman entered the Econo Lodge at 19540 Coastal Highway and demanded money from an employee at the hotel desk.

State Police say the woman implied she had a gun. State Police say the clerk told the woman there was no money, locked himself in an office and called 911.

State Police say the woman threatened to shoot the man through the door and took $400 in petty cash before a trooper arrived and the woman was arrested.

State Police identified the woman as 42-year-old Michelle Bloothoofd of Lewes. It was not clear if she had a lawyer.
