ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - A Dona Ana County detention officer is being investigated for an alleged use of force incident during a jail booking last month.

County Detention Center Director Chris Barela says the internal investigation involves a five-year veteran officer and a Nov. 27 booking incident.

Barela said Tuesday that he reviewed videotape of the incident and is requesting expedited paperwork to place the officer on paid administrative leave while the investigation is being done.

The detainee reportedly suffered no visible injuries, but was transported to a hospital for evaluation as a precaution.

He was released back to the Detention Center soon after and has since been released from the facility.

The name of the detention officer and the detainee haven’t been released.
