ALBANY, La. (AP) - State police say a 49-year-old Independence woman died in a single-vehicle crash northwest of Albany in Livingston Parish.

Trooper Bryan Lee said in a news release Peggy Perry was traveling west on Louisiana Highway 442 Tuesday morning when her pickup crossed the center line and ran off the left side of the highway.

Lee says the truck overturned and came to rest on the side of the highway.

He says Perry was wearing a seat belt but sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash. The Livingston Parish Coroner’s Office pronounced her dead at the scene.

Lee says a passenger, 58-year-old Steven Barnett, of Ponchatoula, also was wearing a seat belt and sustained moderate injuries. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
