TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) - A Toledo television station says its former sports director has died.

WTOL-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1MVL6TB ) Orris Tabner died Tuesday. He was 83.

Tabner was the station’s sports director for nearly 40 years until his retirement in 1996. He grew up in the city and attended the University of Toledo before he joined WTOL-AM in the 1950s. Tabner worked for both the radio and television stations.

Sports Director Dan Cummins worked with Tabner for 16 years and says he always lit up his room with his sense of humor.
