LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - A 37-year-old man from Mexico has been sentenced to 13 months in federal prison for illegally re-entering the United States.

U.S. Attorney Stephanie Finley said in a news release Hugo Campuzano Cuellar was sentenced Tuesday by U.S. District Judge Richard T. Haik in Lafayette. Finley says he had pleaded guilty Aug. 26 to one count of illegal re-entry by a deported alien.

Finley said immigration officers discovered Cuellar in a jail cell at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center.

Finley says Cuellar previously had been deported from the United States on May 6, 2002, May 16, 2005, and May 7, 2009.
