SOCORRO, N.M. (AP) - New Mexico State Police have released more information about an officer-involved shooting in Socorro.

They say a law enforcement officer employed by the Seventh Judicial District Attorney’s Office and a Socorro County sheriff’s deputy attempted to stop a suspect driving a stolen vehicle Tuesday in the city limits of Socorro.

State Police say the suspect had a gun and the officer with the district attorney’s office fired shots, striking the suspect.

The suspect is currently undergoing treatment at an Albuquerque Hospital.

State Police say the suspect’s name and the identities of the officers involved won’t be released until interviews have been conducted.
