WEST POINT, Va. (AP) - Virginia State Police say a pilot was not injured when his single-engine airplane crashed in King and Queen County.

Sgt. Stephan Vick says the crash occurred about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday about a quarter of a mile west of the West Point Regional Airport.

Vick says pilot Christopher P. Strasser of Pennsylvania was the only occupant of the 1997 Grumman Tiger. He says the plane left Ford Meade, Maryland, for Jamestown but was redirected to West Point because of foul weather.

According to Vick, the plane was approaching the airport when it stalled and plummeted into a marsh.

Vick says Strasser is properly licensed. The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board were notified about the crash.
