PHOENIX (AP) - A Phoenix woman has been arrested for allegedly beating her children and hitting her 7-year-old son in the face with a belt.

Phoenix police say 26-year-old Desiree Lashawn Taylor is being held on suspicion of two counts of child abuse.

Bond was set at $5,000 at Taylor’s initial court appearance Wednesday. She doesn’t have a lawyer yet.

A police reports says the 7-year-old boy suffered wounds to the right side of his face and back while his 5-year-old brother has multiple scars on his back from prior mistreatment.

The two boys were transported to a hospital and later to the Family Advocacy Center for interviews with investigators.

Police say Taylor was arrested Monday after allegedly admitting that she had struck the children with a belt the night before as discipline.
