Toronto FC’s Sebastian Giovinco was named Major League Soccer’s 2015 Most Valuable Player on Wednesday.

The 28-year-old Italian forward also won the league’s Golden Boot award with 22 goals and a league-high 16 assists, breaking the league record for combined goals and assists.

He was also the MLS Newcomer of the Year and was named to the season’s Best XI squad. He helped Toronto FC reach the playoffs for the first time.

Columbus striker Kei Kamara and Sporting Kansas City midfielder Benny Feilhaber were also finalists for the award, which is named after retired U.S. star Landon Donovan. Giovinco received the most votes in a poll of players, league officials and media members.
