MIDDLETOWN, Pa. (AP) - The emergency warning sirens at Three Mile Island nuclear power plant are set to be tested this week.

Exelon Generation, owner of generating station in Middletown, near Harrisburg, says the company will conduct its semi-annual system test on Thursday at 12:15 p.m. The test will last three minutes.

According to a company press release, it’s one of two full-volume tests performed each year.

The 96 sirens are located within 10 miles of the plant, and are in place to warn residents of a nuclear accident.
