STATHAM, Ga. (AP) - Authorities say the pilot of a small plane has died after crashing into a golf course in northeast Georgia.

Barrow County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Scott Dakin says the crash occurred around 2:30 p.m. Sunday at The Georgia Club. Dakin says the plane crashed on the third hole, crossed over the fairway and landed in the wood line.

Dakin says the pilot was the only person onboard. Dakin says there were no injuries reported on the golf course.

The identity of the pilot has not been released.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Jim Peters identified the plane as a Beechcraft BE24.
