BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Authorities in Alabama say a woman and two children were killed in a crash involving a drunk driver.

Jefferson County sheriff’s Chief Deputy Randy Christian tells Al.com (https://bit.ly/1OEJV99 ) that Lawrence Jason Bewley is charged with murder in the death of a 47-year-old woman and two eight-year-old boys. The crash occurred Sunday morning on Alabama Highway 79.

Christian says the blood alcohol level of 45-year-old Bewley was more than twice the legal limit.

Names of the victims have not been released. The three victims who died were riding as backseat passengers with two others in the front. The 39-year-old female driver and a 71-year-old woman suffered serious injuries.

Bewley is being held at the Jefferson County Jail in Birmingham on an $187,500 bond. It’s not clear if Bewley has an attorney.
