NEW YORK (AP) - A 51-year-old Bronx man has been arrested in connection with the death of a 2-month-old boy whose body was discovered in a wooded area in Dutchess County.

Police said Sunday that Jose Feliciano was arrested on murder and manslaughter charges in the death of Mason Whyte.

Whyte’s body was discovered in Dover on Saturday after police were alerted when the victim’s mother - a patient at New York-Presbyterian Hospital in White Plains - confided with hospital staff about her son’s death.

Police say Feliciano smothered the boy in his home on Dec. 10 because he wouldn’t stop crying. The two then disposed the body upstate.

Information on Feliciano’s his lawyer was not available.

It wasn’t clear if the mother will face charges.
