EMERALD ISLE, N.C. (AP) - The U.S. Coast Guard says it rescued a man and his dog from a yacht that was taking on water off the North Carolina coast.

The Coast Guard says in a news release that it received a call about the situation with the 38-foot yacht near Sneads Ferry on Saturday afternoon.

A Coast Guard boat launched from Emerald Isle and reached the man around 5 p.m. He and his dog were transported to the New River Marina.

There were no injuries reported. The news release says the man will have the boat towed.
