CHICAGO (AP) - Chicago police called to a home on the city’s northwest side found a man shot in the right shoulder by a female family member who is on the police force but was off duty at the time.

Authorities say the Sunday morning shooting involved a 52-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman who is an officer. It’s not clear how the two are related. The wounded man is not an officer.

He was taken to a hospital in good condition and remains in custody. Police say charges may be filed related to what they are calling a domestic incident.

The city’s Independent Police Review Authority is investigating the shooting because it involves an officer.

The incident occurs as a federal civil rights investigation of the Chicago Police Department in under way.
