PHOENIX (AP) - Phoenix police say officers have arrested a suspect who randomly fired shots inside an apartment complex.

Police Sgt. Vince Lewis says the incident happened Sunday around 6 a.m. in a residential area near 63rd Avenue and McDowell Road.

Lewis says four officers were investigating a report of shots being fired when they heard shots also.

He says they located a suspect who was armed and one officer fired his weapon.

Police then arrested the suspect.

Neither the suspect nor the officers suffered any injuries.

The investigation remains ongoing.

This story has been corrected to say police officers were not shot at while responding to a report of shots fired, but heard shots.
