WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) - Winston-Salem police say that Salvation Army red donation kettles have been stolen twice this month.

The Winston-Salem Journal reports (https://goo.gl/oySLD8) that the latest theft happened at a Walmart on Thursday.

Police say a volunteer was holding a kettle with the day’s donation when someone ran up behind him and grabbed the container.

The thief then got into the passenger’s side of a pickup and left.

Police say another kettle was stolen on Dec. 8 at a supermarket when the attendant took a short restroom break.

The newspaper says that loss was estimated at about $150.
