CERRITOS, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say they found a 55-year-old man dead inside a burned car on a residential street in Los Angeles County.

A sheriff’s statement says the man was pronounced dead at the scene Sunday in the front seat of a 1999 Toyota Corolla that was parked along the curb.

The man’s name has not been released, but authorities say he’s from La Palma.

The statement says it’s not clear how the fire started, but there were several gas cans inside the car.

The car was found near Cerritos Regional County park and Coyote Creek in Cerritos, about 25 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles.
