RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - The South Dakota State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of a fire that destroyed a store in Custer.

The Rapid City Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1IjGjNe ) the Custer County Market burned late Friday night.

Assistant fire chief Bill Bell says the market was “gutted out from the fire,” with only its four walls still standing. He says about 80 percent of the roof caved in and collapsed.

The fire was reported at 10:30 p.m. on Friday, and firefighters spent more than six hours putting out the fire with the help of six other departments in the area.

Firefighters were able to save the T-shirt business directly west of the market, although it sustained some smoke and water damage.

No injuries were reported.
