BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) - A judge has set bond at $25,000 for a man accused of assaulting another man with a hammer in Billings.

The Billings Gazette reports (https://bit.ly/1YqlM0A ) that 47-year-old Howard Lackey Jr. appeared in court Friday on an assault with a weapon charge.

Court documents say the victim told police Lackey came into his home June 17 and threatened him with a machete. The man claimed that two days later, Lackey struck him with a hammer on his face and hand. The man reportedly suffered a broken hand.

According to the documents, Lackey did not comment on the hammer assault but told police the man had put a gun to his head.

Lackey is scheduled to appear in court again Thursday.
