DETROIT (AP) - A new project is listing information about Detroit’s community development organizations, neighborhood associations, block clubs and neighborhood service providers.

Community Development Advocates of Detroit has launched the Detroit Community Organization Mapping Project, or d(COM)munity. The interactive online map and directory was developed with funding from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and technical support from Data Driven Detroit.

In a statement, Community Development Advocates of Detroit Executive Director Sarida Scott says it “fills an information gap in Detroit by making it easy to find out about and connect with grassroots and community-based organizations.”

The aim, Scott says, is to “encourage greater collaboration and partnership among these groups within neighborhoods and across Detroit.”

Dozens of organizations are already listed are more are being added.
