WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) - A man who allegedly assaulted his mother and attempted to set fire to her garage has been arrested after pulling a shotgun on police.

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports (https://bit.ly/1TZ9hlV ) that 29-year-old Kyle Andrew Hattrup was charged with the assault of Laurie Hattrup and with arson for trying to set fire to her garage around 2 p.m. Saturday.

A police report says the fire was extinguished after officers arrived.

Officers were looking for Kyle Hattrup about 45 minutes later when he allegedly pulled out the weapon. He was taken into custody shortly after.

Kyle Hattrup was charged with aggravated assault of police officer Thomas Sullivan in that incident.
