RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Two Richmond-area men are scheduled for sentencing next year after their convictions in the abuse death of a 3-year-old boy.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch (https://bit.ly/1OJnJLc ) Clarence Raiford Jr. and William Corey Moore were convicted Tuesday on charges related to the April death of Zyon Thompson.

Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney LaToya H. Croxton said the child died of dehydration after being subjected to extreme abuse. The abuse included being forced to eat crab seasoning.

Henrico Circuit Judge Gary A. Hicks accepted the pleas of both men and scheduled sentencing for March and April.

Raiford’s wife, Alexis D. Raiford, is scheduled for trial next year. Zyon was in Alexis Raiford’s care at the time of his death.
