PIERCE, Neb. (AP) - Murder and suicide are suspected in the deaths of two people whose remains were found inside a burned pickup in northeast Nebraska.

The Nebraska State Patrol says the fire was reported just after 3 p.m. Monday in a field nine miles west and a mile north of Pierce in Pierce County. The remains were discovered in the pickup cab after firefighters put out the blaze.

Nebraska State Patrol Lt. Dan Wilson said Tuesday that the investigation so far suggests the two deaths are a result of a murder-suicide.

The Norfolk Daily News reports (https://bit.ly/1QVYjOJ ) that Pierce County Sheriff Rick Eberhardt says the remains were being sent to Sioux City, Iowa, for autopsies.
