WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Wilmington police say a pedestrian has died after he was struck by a car.

It happened about 5:45 p.m. Monday on North Lincoln Street. Officers say the man was hit by a car driven by 41-year-old Susan Thompkins of Wilmington.

Police say the pedestrian was taken to Christiana Hospital, where he underwent surgery. Officers say he died on Tuesday. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the man’s identity.

Before the man died, police had charged Thompkins with driving under the influence of alcohol and vehicular assault. The crash is still under investigation.
