BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - Corrections officials are still investigation an assault that led to a nearly weeklong lockdown at the North Dakota State Penitentiary in Bismarck.
The lockdown was implemented Dec. 9 following a fight between two inmates. Prison officials kept inmates in their cells and suspended visitation until Dec. 15.
North Dakota Highway Patrol Capt. Eric Peterson tells the Bismarck Tribune (https://bit.ly/1V32MzH ) that an inmate was injured in the assault and was treated and released from the hospital. He says the nature of the inmate’s injuries is not being released pending the completion of the investigation. Neither are the names of the suspect or the victim.
Peterson says the success of such investigations depends on the cooperation of witnesses, and the investigation may not be completed quickly.
