DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Severe weather packing rain and wind are expected for portions of southern and eastern Iowa.

The National Weather Service issued a tornado watch Wednesday afternoon for parts of Iowa in the path of the severe weather. That advisory was expected to expire in a few hours.

The weather could include severe storms with damaging winds and hail. Conditions could produce an isolated tornado.

Officials say wind gusts in Iowa could reach 40 mph and some rivers may have flooding.
