NEWARK, Del. (AP) - Authorities have arrested a Wilmington man in connection with a motel shooting in Newark.

Delaware State Police say 35-year-old Michael Newton was already in custody for an unrelated incident when the new charges were made.

Officials say a 37-year-old man was shot in the face Dec. 3 in the parking lot of a Motel 6. Police say the man had been approached by a group of men as he exited the room where he was staying.

The victim was treated at a hospital and was later released.

Newton faces charges including first-degree murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He was arrested Sunday in connection to a gas station shooting, and has been charged in the September shooting of 18-year-old.

It’s unclear if he has an attorney.
