QUINCY, Ill. (AP) - An 18-year-old Quincy man has been sentenced to 115 years in prison for first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder. Judge Robert Adrian sentenced Gavin Masters on Wednesday.
A jury last month found Masters guilty in the Fourth of July shooting death of 21-year-old Randy Bowser-Smith of Quincy and the wounding of 21-year-old Skylar L. Osborne. Bowser-Smith died from his injuries. Osborne was paralyzed from the chest down.
Quincy police said a dispute about marijuana led to the Fourth of July shootings.
Masters told the judge during the hearing that he felt he had been treated unfairly. He has been in custody at the Adams County Jail since his arrest July 4.
