BEDFORD, Pa. (AP) - A western Pennsylvania man is in custody on charges he threatened a local judge who was set to handle a traffic citation the man received.

Bedford County District Attorney William Higgins tells WJAC-TV (https://bit.ly/1SdZpXl ) that 41-year-old Byron Morrison sent a letter to Magistrate Judge Kathy Calhoun on Monday.

Higgins says the letter contained some “pretty crazy threats” including plans to assault or kill the judge.

Police waited for Morrison to arrive for his court date on Wednesday and arrested him when he showed up.

Online court records don’t list an attorney for Morrison, who remained in the Bedford County jail unable to post $150,000 bond.

Morrison is charged with making terroristic threats.
