NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - The Transportation Security Administration has confiscated a loaded handgun at Norfolk International Airport.

The TSA said in a news release the gun officers confiscated Tuesday at the airport marked the 16th of the year.

Deputy Executive Director of the airport and Norfolk Airport Authority Robert Bowen says airport police cited 42-year-old James Michael O’Brien on a state weapons charge after the handgun was found in his belongings.

The TSA says the handgun they discovered was loaded with 15 bullets. It was found inside a carry-on bag as it passed through an X-ray machine.

It isn’t clear if O’Brien has an attorney.

The TSA says it has confiscated more guns at Norfolk International Airport this year than it did in 2014.
