HOUSTON (AP) - Authorities have made an arrest in connection with the death of a suburban Houston man whose burned remains were found last year in a nearby Southeast Texas county.

The Liberty County Sheriff’s Office says 39-year-old Marcus Clifton Johnson has been charged with tampering with physical evidence.

The body of 19-year-old Isaiah Rios of the Houston suburb of Spring was found in November 2014 on the side of a road in Liberty County.

The sheriff’s office says its officers, the Texas Rangers and the FBI have investigated the case for more than a year.

Johnson was arrested in the Houston suburb of Pasadena on Wednesday. He remained jailed Thursday in Houston while authorities work to transfer him to Liberty County.

Jail records did not list an attorney for Johnson.
