POWAY, Calif. (AP) - The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department says a man was wounded in a shooting range accident in Poway.

A department statement says the incident occurred Wednesday afternoon at the Poway Weapons and Gear range.

A 12-year-old boy was target shooting with a .22-caliber rifle when he was burned by a hot bullet casing and dropped the weapon.

When the rifle hit the ground, it fired and the bullet struck a man in the leg.

The victim was taken to a hospital with what was described as a non-life-threatening injury.
