WARRENTON, Ore. (AP) - A registered sex offender has been arrested for the alleged abuse of a teenage boy in Warrenton.

KGW-TV reports (https://goo.gl/K3zGxZ ) that 34-year-old Sidney Sean Mecham was arrested without incident Saturday. He faces several charges, including sexual abuse and failure to report as a sex offender.

Clatsop County authorities say Mecham met the 16-year-old boy at a park last summer and then became a family friend of the victim.

The alleged abuse, which occurred between October and November, was reported by the victim’s family.

Mecham was listed as a sex offender after a 1999 conviction in Multnomah County.
