ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) - Prosecutors have dropped a murder charge against a Rock Hill man in a shooting death in August.

Multiple media outlets reported that prosecutors on Wednesday dropped murder and weapons charges against 20-year-old Robert Daquan Johnson.

Twenty-seven-year-old Latoya Cureton was found shot three times in the back.

Prosecutors said they were reserving the right to restore the charges against Johnson later if necessary.

Warrants issued in October said Johnson shot Cureton and left her in the backyard of a home. Johnson had turned himself in to police once he and his family learned he was being sought.

Prosecutor Willy Thompson said Wednesday that after reviewing the case, the charges were being dismissed.

Rock Hill Police spokesman Mark Bollinger would not comment on the dismissal of the charges.
