PATERSON, N.J. (AP) - The police director of a northern New Jersey city is set to take on a second job as an interim police chief in a Pennsylvania town two hours away.

NJ.com reports (https://bit.ly/1Jy2sT2 ) that Paterson Police Director Jerry Speziale will become the part-time interim chief in Hazleton, Pennsylvania, on Jan. 4.

Speziale says that the part-time job with an hourly rate won’t conflict with his duties in Paterson, where he is paid $92,000 annually.

He says he has been consulting for free in Hazleton for the last month. He will start the paid position on the same day that Mayor-elect Jeff Cusat is sworn in.

Speziale and Cusat say the police chief job is an administrative position. Speziale says he has enough time off built into his Paterson job to do the Hazleton job.
