WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Office janitors in New Castle County have reached a tentative labor agreement with their employers.

Service Employees International Union spokeswoman Traci Benjamin tells The News Journal of Wilmington (https://delonline.us/1NE59X0) that details of Wednesday’s deal will be made public after the agreement is approved by union members next month.

According to SEIU Local 32BJ, the draft contract includes wage increases, maintained benefits and improved vacation time and days off.

The union represents about 600 Delaware workers. It had been seeking a $15-an-hour base pay for its members, among other things. Local janitors in the union currently earn between $10 and $10.40 an hour.

The deal comes one week before the union’s third multi-year labor contract with the Delaware Maintenance Contractors Association was set to expire.
