OGDEN, Utah (AP) - The North Davis Fire District is calling on residents to uncover their snow-buried fire hydrants to ensure quicker access in the event of a fire.

The Standard-Examiner reports (https://bit.ly/1QNBG0z ) that fire spokesman Mark Sessions says a hydrant that’s covered with snow could cause up to a five-minute delay for firefighters getting them set up.

Sessions recommends residents keep the hydrants clear of at least a few feet of snow.

He says residents should clear snow from their hydrants like they do their driveways and mailboxes.
