PINEHURST, N.C. (AP) - Two women have been attacked by a pit bull at Oak Hill Kennel in Moore County.

The Moore County Sheriff’s Department tells local media the incident happened Wednesday morning. Amy Dahl had been walking a pit bull with a leash through a gate at the facility. At the same time, Dori Darvy was walking two other dogs on a leash - and all three animals encountered each other.

The pit bull broke free from the leash just as Darvy managed to safely secure the two dogs she was walking.

The women were then attacked. They were able to wrestle the dog into a pen and close the door.

Each of the women sustained injuries and were taken to the hospital. Moore County Animal Operations picked up the dog.
