DETROIT (AP) - Police in Detroit are investigating the death of a woman whose body may have been partially devoured by animals.

A man spotted the woman’s body Wednesday afternoon in a field near a vacant house on the city’s northeast side. She was not identified as of early Thursday morning.

Sgt. Cassandra Lewis tells The Detroit News that the body “may have been there for a while” and that “animals may have chewed on her a little bit.”

WJBK-TV reports that the body was partially clothed and that the woman’s left arm appeared to have been gnawed on.
