DEMING, N.M. (AP) - New Mexico State Police say a California woman is dead and six other people are critically injured after a vehicle rollover east of Deming.

Police say the accident occurred about 5 a.m. Thursday on Interstate 10.

Investigators say a 24-year-old Los Angeles woman lost control of the vehicle she was driving and it overturned and ejected several passengers.

Police say 52-year-old Patricia Cereceres of Los Angeles was pronounced dead at the scene.

They say the driver and five other passengers in the vehicle were airlifted to a Texas hospital and are listed in critical condition.

The names of the injured weren’t immediately released.

Police say the crash remains under investigation.
