JEFFERSON, Maine (AP) - Authorities say a Maine man died when he was hit by a large branch while trying to remove a tree from a property.

It happened around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday in Jefferson. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office says it appears that 22-year-old Eliot Lamb died instantly when the branch fell on him.

The Orono man was working for Second Nature Tree Service when the incident occurred.

The Maine Department of Labor was notified and will review the incident.
