CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. (AP) - Police say they’ve arrested a man considered a habitual shoplifter after dozens of arrests in Rhode Island.

The Providence Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1PmChTP ) that police say 55-year-old Jose Dalomba was arrested on Tuesday after he ran from a pharmacy carrying merchandise.

Police say officers chased him through the neighborhood before arresting him.

Dalomba was charged with felony shoplifting, one count of being a habitual shoplifter and obstructing a police officer.

Court records list 60 prior cases for shoplifting and various other charges, beginning in 1989.

Dalomba was arraigned Wednesday and referred to the public defender’s office.

It’s unclear whether an attorney has been assigned.
