DARRINGTON, Wash. (AP) - A Snohomish County sheriff’s deputy pulled a man from a burning house on Wednesday night in Darrington.

The deputy arrived at the home before the fire department and found it full of black smoke with a man still inside.

The deputy broke some windows, entered the house and pulled the man to safety. Authorities say the man was breathing but unconscious. He was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

The deputy was evaluated for smoke inhalation but otherwise uninjured.
