BEAR, Del. (AP) - Delaware police say one man is dead and another injured after a box truck struck a tractor trailer in Bear.

Police say paramedics responded to Pulaski Highway and Robin Drive just after 1:30 a.m. Friday for a report of a wreck. When they arrived they found two people trapped inside a box truck, which had struck a tractor trailer from behind. The trailer was parked and unoccupied on the roadway’s shoulder at the time of the wreck.

Firefighters responded to the scene and freed the occupants using a “Jaws of Life” apparatus.

The driver, a 43-year-old, was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. His passenger, 36-year-old Terrell Lawson, sustained multiple injuries and was taken to a hospital where he died. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
