FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Authorities have identified a man who went missing while paddleboarding in the Florida Panhandle.

According to a news release Friday from the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, the missing man is believed to be 51-year-old John Andrew Frye of Fort Walton Beach.

Authorities say Frye disappeared while paddleboarding Thursday morning in the waters off Okaloosa Island.

According to the sheriff’s office, the paddleboard washed ashore and a woman who had seen a man on it moments earlier called 911.
