CINCINNATI (AP) - Cincinnati police say an officer shot at a man who refused repeated orders to drop a handgun they later learned was a replica firearm.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports (https://cin.ci/1SfCJ91 ) that police received a call Thursday night about a man pointing a gun at people in the city’s East Price Hill neighborhood. Cincinnati police released a statement Friday that says an officer confronted the man and repeatedly ordered him to drop the weapon. The officer opened fire when the man raised the gun but the shots missed.

The man was arrested and police learned he was carrying a replica firearm. Police have not released the man’s name.
