CULPEPER, Va. (AP) - Two cannons from Gettysburg are heading back south for Cedar Mountain Battlefield in Culpeper County.

The Star Exponents (https://bit.ly/1mCj7zG ) reports that the replica cannons are gifts from the Civil War Trust to the Friends of Cedar Mountain. At the Pennsylvania battlefield, they were at the site of Gen. Robert E. Lee’s headquarters during the Battle of Gettysburg.

The Civil War Trust says the guns were not historically appropriate for the Gettysburg site.

At Cedar Mountain, the artillery will undergo a restoration. They’ll be part of the battlefield’s guided tours next year.

The Battle of Cedar Mountain occurred Aug. 9, 1862.
